YELLOW CAKE - THE SECRET FAMILY RECIPE

The Niger yellow cake lie is, without a doubt, the best example of how the American public was manipulated into going to war in Iraq.  So how did that yellow cake lie come to be?  Was it a secret Cheney family secret recipe?  I found this at antiwar.com:

The story of how the Niger uranium forgeries got past all the safeguards, how the actual documents were never seen by the CIA until after the president's 2003 speech, and who was pushing to include a reference to Saddam's alleged efforts to procure uranium in "an African nation" as one of the president's major talking points – these are all subjects of interest to a prosecutor attempting to prove charges of conspiracy to lie us into war. There must be a special law that covers government employees, including high officials, who transmit tainted information and poison the well of U.S. intelligence-gathering efforts. I'm sure Fitzgerald will have no trouble finding it.

This "subject of interest", how the forgeries made it to the SOTU speech, was brought up last friday on the Sam Seder show on Air America.  Here is the call: . I found the call interesting because I was confused how a caller who seemed to know some rather obscure details of the case would be confused about the names of Dick Cheney's daughters, Elizabeth and Mary.  I decided that it was probably smart to obscure the name Liz Cheney from his call as that would have "national security" implications and put some people, particularly CIA insiders at legal risk.  So did Dick Cheney get the forged documents from his daughter?  Again from anitwar.com:

An ad hoc office under US Undersecretary of Defense for Policy Douglas Feith appears to have acted as the key base for an informal network of mostly neo-conservative political appointees that circumvented normal interagency channels to lead the push for war against Iraq.

In interagency discussions, Feith and the two offices communicated almost exclusively with like-minded allies in other agencies, rather than with their official counterparts, including even the DIA in the Pentagon, according to Kwiatkowski. Rather than working with the State Department's Bureau of Intelligence and Research, its Near Eastern Affairs bureau, or even its Iraq desk, for example, they preferred to work through Undersecretary of State for Arms Control and International Security (and former AEI executive vice president) John Bolton; Michael Wurmser (another Perle protégé at AEI who staffed the predecessor to OSP); and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near East Affairs, Elizabeth Cheney, the daughter of the Vice President Dick Cheney.

Absent definitive proof of Elizabeth's link to the yellow cake lie, one can only say - the pieces sure go together naturally.  There is research going on now that links genetics to intelligence and behavior.  It may well be proved that a genetic link to lying exists well before we can ever confirm if a known liar such as Dick Cheney got the yellow cake lie from his useful daughter Liz.
