The great thing about Sirus is that they have a free three-day sample player on their site (hint: You can reset the three days by clearing out your cookies). You'll need to enroll, so give yoursef a few minutes before 2pm Monday if you want to listen in to the story.

THE 4th OF JULY

Save our Constitution!

LIVE FREE OR DIE: Death is not the worst of evils.

James Yee spoke passionately about his experience of being a Muslim Chaplain at Guantanamo Bay detention camp where he worked to address the religious needs of the U.S. military staff and over 600 prisoners. He shared with the audience his observations about what he characterized as inappropriate and unacceptable use of religion as a weapon against the Muslim detainees. Yee called for more education and training so that Americans—both soldiers and civilians—will understand the basic tenets of Islam as a non-violent religion.

He also briefly retold his own story of being unjustly arrested and held in solitary confinement for 76 days in 2003. He was accused of spying, espionage and aiding prisoners at the Guantanamo Bay detention camp but was subsequently exonerated of all charges, given an honorable discharge and commended for his service. SHAME

U.S admits to holding TENS OF THOUSANDS of detainies on military vessels at sea. What kind of country are we? What happened to America? How is this any different than concentration camps?

h/t Paddy

I'm so shamed of our President. How many more indignities are we expected to endure?

COLORADO BIGOT SHOWS OFF

DENVER (KWGN) — For the first time in more than a century, a Colorado State Representative was barred from speaking during a debate on the House floor.

Comments from Representative Douglas Bruce of Colorado Springs raised a lot of eyebrows and caused lawmakers to moan in disapproval.

But, some lawmakers said they applaud what he said. Bruce said he was just speaking the truth. "We don't need 5,000 more illiterate peasants in the state of Colorado," said Bruce during the debate.

It was that comment that received an audible gasp from members in the chamber. His comment was made during a debate about a program that would bring seasonal migrant workers to Colorado.

"He made a premeditated bigoted comment directed toward a group of people that was hate-filled," said Rep. Terrance Carroll of Denver. "What he said was wrong, and hopefully he hears from his constituents, he certainly heard from all of us," explained Minority Leader Rep. Mike May.

Bruce said his comment was nothing more than a statement he says many would agree with. "Look at a dictionary and look at what illiterate means it means unable to read and write and in this case in this country it's English."

Bill sponsor Representative Marsha Looper who debated with Bruce on the floor continued her arguments in his office while we were there for our interview. "At end of the day we still need seasonal workers to help us attend to our crops," said Looper. "I don't have any crops," Bruce said. "But you eat Doug," responded Looper.

Bruce's comments could prompt an ethics investigation however nothing as of now has been filed. But it wouldn't be the first time for him. He was censured earlier this year for kicking a news photographer. Video at the link.
